Following the Boer occupation of Crocodile Pools and the Gaberones area in late October 1899, the Imperial Forces retreated north, and are believed to have taken with them the postal equipment from Crocodile Pools. In November they reoccupied Mochudi where they established a base camp for the Armoured train and, it is believed, a post office.
